Mark came into the house and flumped onto the sofa.

It lasted four seconds.

The attack came, without warning, from the left. He is too slow to dodge. It is over. The battle has already been lost.

"Daddy! Read me a story!"

He smiles at the little one. He has his eyes. He will grow up tall, Just like his father.

The minder sicks her head in and mouths "I'm off", gesturing with the universaal sign for telephone. He will call her when he gets the chance, making sure today was allright, as usual.

Sandra will be home in half an hour. But for that half an hour, he will take Ben to a world of Ninajs and Heroes. The two of them will adventure together, just before Tea.

Life is good.
