October Writing Challange
Sep. 29th, 2009 01:16 pmDominic shut the cooker off as he took the pancakes he’d been making off the stove. He’d slipped out of bed early to get to work in the Kitchen. Today was the day, he’d decided. After having spent months agonising over his feelings, he was going to ask the girl of his dreams to marry him. But first, it had to be perfect. He had it all planned out. First he was going to bring her breakfast in bed, then take her out for the day around the city to see some sights, before popping the question at a restaurant he’d given a weeks worth of time to Sam to arrange.
He slid the pancakes onto a plate then stuck them onto a tray. Filling a glass with juice, he placed that on the tray as well. He frowned a little. Something was missing. Suddenly, it hit him and he took some flowers from the window ledge and placed them on the tray as well, allowing his mantle to wash over them and restore them to life slightly.
With that he carefully tiptoed to the bedroom. He wanted this to be a surprise after all. On reaching the door he pushed it open slightly and stopped. He couldn’t help himself. Every time he saw her he acted this way, having to catch his breath slightly and be thankful for what he had. She reacted to him standing there, stirring in the bed slightly, wiping the sleep from her eyes. “Good Morning Vicky” He said brightly. “I’ve brought you breakfast.”
