OOC: For the beginnings challenge I thought I would do something from Ishtar's childhood and since her family has been coming to mind more often recently I thought I would use them as a setting. Hope it makes sense :)
The girl ran laughing through the tall grass, chased a short while after by a boy who looked not too much older than she did. Both of them had the same dark brown hair and brown eyes and favoured each other so much that anyone looking at them could see the shared blood between them. The sun shone, the summer breeze blew and the pair of them ran through the field without a care in the world.
“She’s destined, isn’t she?” Two women watched the children play nearby. The same blood ties as obvious between them as with the children. The one who spoke was the younger of a the two, a beautiful woman easily around the right age to be their mother, with streaks of grey only just creeping across her temples.
The older woman nodded in response, her attention on the tarot cards stretched out in front of her, “She is. I knew as much when I named her. She burns with fire in her heart. When she loves she will love more fiercely than anything else, likewise when she hates. She will be a being of passion and her life will not be easy on her. In the end her heart will lead her to betray what she loves most.” She smiled sadly at the younger woman, “I am sorry, the path to Awakening is rarely easy. You know the power our line carries. She will do great things, perhaps terrible ones as well and in the end he will be the only one standing with her.”
“Nothing can change that? Nothing you foresee can make this easier on them?” The younger woman’s voice wavered slightly as she spoke.
“Not that I can see, no. But the future is never completely set and we cannot be entirely sure what Fate has in store for them.” She paused and rested a hand lightly on the other woman’s shoulders, “Hush daughter, your children are young and strong. Whatever is to come is years in the future, fretting about it now will change nothing and spoil what time with them you have remaining.”
Her daughter nodded slowly in response, though as she looked across to where her children played there was still a hint of a haunted soul behind her brown eyes.
