Gianna hummed happily as she carefully dabbed the foundation onto the young woman’s face, smiling as the skin slowly started to take on the right shade under her hand.

“It’s starting to come together mistress, yes yes, he’ll love how you look tonight,” she crooned lovingly as she picked up the eyeliner pencil, “hold still, mistress. Must be very good with this bit… yes, that’s it…”

“You’ll like him; did you know he’s a great-grandson of mine? But a full-blooded member of the family of course,” she hastened to add, “not like this most unworthy ghoul, no… he’s a proper gentleman, and one of the special ones of the family at that,” she hums half to the woman and half to herself, losing herself in a small mumble of praise for a moment.

“So proud of him, he’s a lot like his great-grandfather,” she smiles wistfully for a moment before biting her lip and bringing her attention back to the work at hand, “yes… he has his look to him, you’re very lucky, mistress. You know he chose you, right? Yes… dear boy came and looked over you and all the other girls and said to me ‘her, she’s beautiful’, you had him all aflutter”

The girl sat still under the careful ministrations of the ghoul, now moving on to lipstick that, while a pale colour, brought the much needed spark of colour to her face, “he wont tell you about Alberto, that’s his great-grandfather, poor dear never really got to meet him… and besides he’ll be far too busy with you, won’t he? Yes yes… he’ll be wanting to skip straight past conversation with how pretty you’re looking,” Gianna gave an encouraging little smile, aiming for mischievous but not quite managing it as a brief flicker of grief passed over her features.

“No dear, everything is alright,” she nodded reassuringly as she put the lipstick away, “and here I am speaking to one of the family like this…” she shakes her head at herself, “this ghoul offers apologies and hopes you forgive her forwardness,” she looked again at the young woman, warily gauging whether her apology had been accepted before giving a relieved sigh, “we thank you, mistress.”

A final few touches and the work was complete, the ghoul sat back and inspected it all with a look of satisfaction, holding a mirror up for her to see, “beautiful, mistress. Now, we best not keep him waiting, no… here, I’ll help you up, dear,” she carefully helped the corpse to its feet, the young woman’s wounds now largely covered by the makeup and fine clothes as she shambled forward towards the sitting room with the waiting man.
