Peering intently at the reflection on the trophy she felt that odd lurch as the world shifted and she looked up into the Hisil. Small spirits that had clustered around the locus darted away as she appeared, scurrying into the shadows and peering out jealously, but not daring to approach. She looked at them in interest, whispering her usual reassurances to them in the First Tongue, and slowly they relaxed but still came no closer. They were strange spirits; mechanical in appearance with cogs and gears forming into small bodies with wicked metal claws, or tire skinned features obscured by a haze of smoke, each was unique but showed its obvious tie to the local Choir.
The locus was one of triumph, it was tied to the sporting trophies of race car drivers in the museum and the hisil reflected this as it always does. Before her stood a veritable mountain of gold trophies all melded together to form some kind of monolithic structure that radiated a sense of exhilaration and elation. She looked up at it and tentatively laid a hand on the metal, it felt cool to the touch but as she focused on the locus and drew essence from it she felt her heart speed up and heard the roar of blood in her ears, or was it a crowd cheering?
After a short time of this she stepped back, nerves tingling as the essence pulled at the senses and the pure adrenaline of the stuff made her breathes short. At the edge of her sight the spirits watched hungrily, waiting for the uratha to leave so they could reclaim their watering hole, but for this moment there was no worry about them or anything. The essence burned itself into flesh, cooling as it started to settle into the normal pulse of essence in her system, it was more than food or water it was an exultation of the spiritual heritage of the uratha. And then it was time to go, this short communion was over and the territory needed to be guarded.
