Snowflake swore under her breath. To be sure, the extra numbers for the tourists meant she was busier than ever with her Ghost Tours work and the money definitely came in handy. Running the flat on her money alone was hard work. Eli had never had a job in the time they had been married and while she didn’t mind as such it was a bit of additional pressure on her that she had to cover everything.

And besides, she got all the free glamour she could ever want from the Ghost Tours. Particularly of late. She had no idea what the extra things were that were visible now on the Tours but she knew they weren’t natural. That left Glamour – which either meant another Lost was messing around down there or, more probably, one of Them. And that thought alternately pissed her off and worried her. Why was it only her Tours that were being affected like this? Did whoever or whatever it was that was causing this know what she was?

The small Shadowsoul gritted her teeth as she left the flat, Eli’s kiss goodbye still tingling on her lips. There were times it felt like he was marking his territory. Silly man. The weather was vile and it matched her mood.

There were far too many tourists around the place for her liking. Sure, that meant more money on the Tours. And free Glamour. On the downside, she had to push her way through huge crowds and occasionally use intimidation to get through to where she needed to get to. Most humans had the sense to get out of her way.

A group of women were blocking the pavement at one point and Snowflake politely said ‘excuse me’ several times. When this got no response she said it a bit louder, then got fed up and shoved her way through them. They didn’t seem to like that so she turned and looked at them. She laughed inside at how they backed away at that point. That was far more like it. Patrick was right. Humans were their natural prey.

As the Tour descended deep into the Old Town, the new phenomena made their appearance bang on schedule. Snowflake masked her own concern with professional aplomb and encouraged the people on the Tour to think it was something that was just part of the experience. The fact she couldn’t explain the strange sightings beyond ‘ghosts’ only seemed to heighten the fear factor for the humans.

And Snowflake soaked up the fear like a sponge absorbs water. It felt wonderful.
