A week later her interpretation of what had happened that night would be different. But at the time there were no tears, no broken-hearted yearning, no urge to throw her phone across the room in despair.
At the time, she felt giddy with passion. Her emotional bruises faded with Patrick’s touch – with his presence. She felt like a normal Spring Courtier.
She felt like a normal girl.
Her pulse pounded in her ears, her heart slowing to normal as she watched him get ready for work. She tried not to feel selfish, tried to keep the rest of the world from crowding into her mind for just a little longer.
He closed the door. Everything was dark and quiet for a moment, and then she sighed.
She hoped very much nobody would kill him.
