for allison: Pact, wonder, trouble
Mar. 9th, 2011 03:19 pmTrouble. If one word could sum up the weekend, that would probably be it. Everything had been difficult, from start to finish, and now Galehaut was beginning to shake with a little worry. He had a horde to face, with only unfamiliar weapons to hand.
The ancient pact with the king of cats had to be upheld, and the new king had to be shaped by the dreams of his early nights. A foe had arisen, to make that ancient pact serve the monstrous others , and it had to be stopped. So he went into this fight, wondering if he could win through this difficult task. He had been armed by his lady love, and to his surprise, armoured by Drago. So he had found himself in a place to do battle with the hidden foe, and raise up a king of cats who would protect the dreams and edges of the world as he had done for so long. But he had to win this battle. His allies had prepared the way, and fought lesser skirmishes, so that he might finish the good fight.
The lights went up, and the crowd of homeless and dispossessed waited for Galehaut expectantly. With a slight worry he began to sing the song Adrianne had written him, the cheery showtune echoing through the hall, a new addition to the musical Cats and one which he had never sung before.
He watched, as he poured his effort and magic into his song as a look of wonder passed between them all, their faces lighting up and hanging on his every word. It reminded him hauntingly of the feel of a point of a lance breaking cleanly, and defeating a foe.
Battle was joined, and he thought he had the better of it.
