Freaky Friday - Rio/Holly
Feb. 2nd, 2011 11:12 pmRio looked around Holly's newly pristine bedroom and tried not to think about what her daughter was doing right now. Every once in a while a strange sense of foreboding would trickle painfully down her spine and she was a little concerned at the list of people who's mobile phones seemed to be going straight to voicemail today, but she'd deal with that later.
Well, hopefully she'd deal with that later.
Maybe she wouldn't deal with that later. Maybe this would be permanent and she was stuck as a teenage werewolf for evermore, whilst her daughter took over her body.
Actually, that would be kind of cool. Rio had always thought she'd make a really good werewolf.
The idea kept growing on Rio over the next hour, as she threw out all the contraband chocolate, cigarettes and inappropriate reading material she had found in Holly's bedroom and started working her way through Holly's mobile phone, raising an eyebrow at some of the text messages and making notes on who exactly needed a polite text message informing them that they wouldn't be contacting Holly ever again.
What, Rio thought, should she do if she was going to stay like this?
Well, first of all, she needed a new tribe. Hrm. Rio had always thought she'd make a good Storm Lord. And if they did switch back, the Storm Lords would probably calm Holly down a bit as well. She'd need a pack too, and a decent totem. She considered most of the werewolves she knew and started off by discarding anyone she'd had sex with ever. They were, upon reflection, not really the kind of guys she really wanted to be hanging out with her daughter's body.
Then what next?
She caught a glimpse of herself in a mirror. Bloody hell, how had she raised a daughter quite as non-girly as Holly? And if she did swap back with Holly, would Holly mind if she woke up with a new haircut and half her eyebrows?
Rio quietly pocketed Holly's wallet. She'd deal with that as and when it happened. Right now, she had to admit she was growing sort of hopeful about the notion that things might not change. It would resolve all the romantic mess in her life. It would resolve a lot of issues that she'd had with the local werewolf power structures as she'd have the right to actually lay down a challenge for the first time in her life and hopefully that time spent learning how to kill werewolves as a wolf blood would come in extra handy now.
In fact, wasn't there a meeting that she was meant to be going to this evening?
Rio stopped briefly in the kitchen, mostly to gaze in some pride at how clean the place was. Well, apart from the burnt patch on the hob where she'd tried to cook. She wouldn't make that mistake again. But overall, she was proud of the place. She'd had a brief chat with Drew already about how the house was going to stay that clean, and (with a great deal of satisfaction) had put his head through the bathroom tiles when he had tried to argue. She wasn't sure exactly what this would do to pack dynamics, but was fairly sure it would do an awful lot for household hygiene.
She smoothed her hair - Holly's hair? - back into place. She'd definitely stop at a beautician's en route, and then maybe New Look or Tesco to get herself a whole new outfit, along with some killer heels. After all, a girl needs to look good if she's going to make an entrance. Hrm. She remembered absent mindedly that there was a Claimed she'd been tracking for the past week or so. She hadn't been able to take him out herself but all the evidence suggested that he was essentially small fry. Maybe she could bully Lucas and Drew into doing something useful and helpful for her, and see if she couldn't acquire a severed head as an added prop for this evening. Rio had always wanted to walk into a room of werewolves with a severed head in one hand. No real reason, to be fair. She just always thought it would look cool.
Yes, in general, this whole body swap thing was working out rather well.
Another small chill ran down Rio's spine. She frowned. She wasn't sure quite where she was getting these warnings from, or the exact details of the horror that was awaiting her, but one thing was becoming increasingly clear to her. She really needed to get hold of some mercy gems at this meeting as well, before she plucked up the courage to track down her errant daughter.
Well, hopefully she'd deal with that later.
