((OOC - This is time wise about a day or so after the last London Lost game where Aleksander and a bunch of other people got into a very bad fight with an Ogre.))
Being careful not to disturb him, she leaned over and kissed his forehead, smiling briefly at him as he lay sleeping before she swung herself out of bed. Her bare feet padded quietly on the floor and she shivered slightly at the touch of the cold across her naked skin before wrapping herself in a dressing gown and moving over towards the window.
She sat down in the seat to think for a while, to air the troubled thoughts that tumbled through her mind. His dreams had shown her that the wounds were definitely healed; she would have to thank Sam for that later. But that didn’t stop the incident from troubling her and pushing her to premature wakefulness.
It was true that Aleksander faced danger often and it was not as though he had not been injured at all in the time since they had found each other again. This last one had been bad though, it had even shaken him a little and that meant that he had come very close to death and that scared her so much that her throat closed.
Aline leaned her head against the cool of the window pane, trying to hold back tears, nothing scared her more than the thought of losing him, not even going back to her Keeper's cold clutches. A part of her as always wanted to beg him to stop fighting, to let this war go and just relax and be with her. She smiled wryly to herself as she thought that, for him doing so would mean him being something other than what he was and what she loved.
Quietly she slipped downstairs and out on to the balcony. It was cold, but the breeze ran through her feathery hair and made her feel calmer as it often did. It was tempting to just spread her wings and let the thermals carry her for a short while, but such never lasted for long and she would likely end up quite a way from here and it wasn't that safe outside these walls. Besides, Aleksander would worry if he woke to find her missing.
She really didn’t know why she let things worry her so much, she should enjoy the time they had together and quit worrying about what tomorrow might bring. The Winter part of her nature just couldn't let it go though. The fear of his death, of the years of loneliness that would follow it was something that she just couldn't shake, no matter how hard she tried.
Sorrow and fear rose in her again and she closed her eyes and started to sing, using the catharsis of music to let out all of those feelings so she could breathe again, to calm her heart and mind. It was an old song, often sung at Russian funerals and it brought a sense of peace to the trouble in her soul.
Finally, after a few minutes she felt relaxed and calm enough to return upstairs to bed and attempt to find sleep once more. He was still sleeping when she slipped out of her gown and back under the warm sheets. She smiled tenderly at him and ran her fingers lightly across his cheek. His eyes flickered open at her touch and strong arms pulled her into his embrace. "Trouble sleeping my love?" He asked, a hint of worry in that direct and somewhat unnerving gaze.
"A little, but nothing to worry about. These things happen from time to time." She replied, smiling back at him.
He frowned slightly, looked at her intently but her expression did not seem at all upset or worried. She had buried those fears deep within her again and would not trouble him with them. He would have trouble understanding and she worried that it might even be possible for her to persuade him to walk a different path and for all her fears the thing that worried her most is that she would not wish him to be anything else.
"Well, there is an easy way to cure wakefulness..." With that he kissed her passionately and all her worries melted away again in his arms just as they always did. Eventually she drifted off back to sleep, warm and safe in her lover's arms.
