Janescka - How She Began

writing_shadows2005, February - Ben Foster (Matt Byrne) meets Janescka (Kath Minchin) at a local coven meeting. Jayne undergoes her first change.

Janescka Wienczyslaw is of Polish descent, the third generation from the original immigrants. Her family started off relatively well off, but her father’s inability to hold a job meant that they gradually became more and more poor; eventually ending up in the situation of being “too poor to eat because they’re too proud not to buy soap.” Determined to make her own way in the world she studied hard and eventually went to university to study politics. She got on reasonably well with her siblings and mother, but Pietr and Janescka are too alike to actually get on.
Once she’s finished her university course, she went into local politics; working behind the scenes and becoming one of the youngest Conservative councillors. She paid rent to her parents and was determined never to be without money again.
Her father Pietr is a Storm Lord Ithaeur who watched his children for signs of the change carefully. Unfortunately Janescka showed no sign of changing, so he started looking for a suitable husband. The introduction occurred at a Christmas charity function, where she met Alexander Grey for the first, and only time. Upon returning home he informed her that he expected to marry him.
However, by this point in time Janescka was not only tired of trying to be the dutiful daughter, she was also well aware that she was gay. She tried refusing the match gently; but eventually it ended up in a shouting match and Janescka leaving the family home. She and Pietr didn’t speak for ten years.
Janescka moved to Reading and continued in her chosen career. She met Cailleach in 2002, and they began an intense affair. When Cailleach went through her first change she left Janescka and broke her heart. Janescka searched desperately for her for two years without success.
Eventually in 2004 Janescka decided to rebuild her life and at the same time was promoted within the party to stand in Hertford. She moved to Hertford in January 2005, and bought Bourne Orchard, completely unaware of the way in which her life was going to fundamentally change. She found a new girlfriend and began to look to the future. However she still was looking for Cailleach and had moved from searching using normal means to more esoteric methods.
On 4th February Janescka went to a local Wiccan coven. There she met Ben Foster who recognised the signs of her first change. He contacted his alpha Jay and followed her as she ran into the woods.
Janescka changed under the crescent moon, and came round to find Cailleach looking down at her. Startled and confused, she ended up inviting them back to Bourne Orchard.
A little while later in the month, Pietr, who had watched her change and sent the spirit that attacked Ben and her as a test, contacted her and summoned her back to Edinburgh. She went and discovered that Pietr was known as Xenophon of the Storm Lords. Pietr performed the initiation rite to introduce her to Skolis, and then she began her tuition as a Ithaeur under him.
She returned to her new home and pack, and has begun to fulfil her role as Ithaeur within the Forsaken.
