"…terrifying. Exhilarating. To know that someone has that power over you, that they could gut you with a word or a frown at the wrong moment, hurt you like nothing else on this Earth, is like... It's like the calm of battle; that moment when your unit is working perfectly and the plan is going off like clockwork; when every shot is a kill and your knife never sticks or strikes bone. It's those few, precious seconds when you find your place in the eye of a perfect storm and nothing goes wrong, but you know, you know that it has to end; that someone will slip and the chaos will come flooding back in. And you desperately want it not to be you that breaks that flow, but you desperately want it not to be them either, the ones you trust with your life, because that's even scarier than you losing the rhythm of that moment.
