A master of Mind is, by definition, a master of his own consciousness.
There are spells and practices which enable one to rule one's own mind, to hone and sculpt each thought process in the act of its forming, and to restrain those which one finds undesirable. A hard, cold, precise mental environment is the result, enabling one to focus upon one's duty to the exclusion of extraneous or unhelpful matters.
But there comes a point when these efforts start to endanger the natural seat of consciousness, when they interfere with both instinctual and intellectual creativity, when the dam begins to buckle and the cracks begin to show, and then only choice one has is when and where it bursts.
A master of Mind is, by capacity, a master of another's consciousness.
There exist certain techniques and capacities by which a Master of Mind may reach into another mind, delving deep into memories and recollections, bringing each out from the dark recesses where they were stored and examining them under the harsh light of scrutiny. The resulting understanding is a great boon to initial fact finding efforts, as well as continued undertakings in the name of a more complete account of proceedings.
But there remains an issue in that each memory can only be examined as it was recorded. Even the tiniest fragment of dust of a memory can be recovered, but it will only show what was seen and perceived, and it will inevitably contain context both phsyical and emotional. Thus, in examining memories a master of mind becomes subject to the will and thought process and emotional investment of another at one and the same time as their own emotional process remains intact and functional yet out of necessity subsumed beneath the process.
And it doesn't matter how dispassionately one attempts to discuss the subject, sooner or later I- sooner or later one- must somehow find a way to reconcile two very different thought processes that exist as separate but parallel within the consciousness. Sooner or later I will have to admit into my consciousness the fact that I remember carrying out the most horrific practices and that I was proud to do them in the name of furthering the cause of knowledge. Sooner or later I will have to return again into those frozen, proud moments and feel again the righteousness and satisfaction of holding the knife, flensing the skin, extracting tooth and nail and ovum, even as I strive to act in a moment that remains perfectly unchanged.
A master of mind is, by definition, a master of his own consciousness. A master of mind is a master of his own consciousness. A master of mind is a master of his own consciousness a master of mind is a master of his own consciousness a master of his own consciousness a master of his own consciousness
