Rose stared at the words on the front of Spring's - hers now - notebook, tapping them idly with the pen as if it were a magic wand to reveal the answer. She'd had a few answers (although even then it had been difficult); they were still written in His writing on the first page.

But when she'd been asked Saturday, again she had said what she always said: "I don't know."

And she should know, as Spring's favourite. The one thing everyone could agree on was "Your desires are your own."

So why couldn't she name them?

What did she want?

She wanted the woman who decided to be her mother not to be dead, and not to have lied to quite so many people about quite so much. (Did this include her? What had she meant when she said "you're all I need"? Had she said it to anyone else?)

She wanted there to be no fight between Stitches and whoever Mark had told about the lobotomy. Even more, she wanted them to give him the chance to explain himself.

She wanted Sam to be okay. She wanted lots of people to be okay.

She wanted people to be happy. Not just happy all the time, but to be able to experience the joys of life without having it clouded by its pains.

She wanted...Well, wasn't that enough?

And why couldn't she say that when people asked?
