He was crying.

He was crying because of her.

He was crying because she'd hurt him.

To someone else it would probably have been a little thing, but to her it was, for this moment, the world.

She had, by trying to help, wounded him so deeply that things probably would never be the same.

This was her fault. It was her fault, but he wouldn't abandon her. He forgave her time and time again.

He wasn't angry. She wasn't used to people not being angry when she made mistakes.

He was sad. Because of her.

This time she would fix it. Not by doing what she thought he wanted - this, this finally taught her what a mistake that was - but by being his friend. By doing what she wanted.

To someone else it would have been an obvious step, but to her it was life-changing.

Paragon or not, figurehead or not, her desires should matter too.
