"Monkeys are well known for our wisdom and nobility you see," Alex explained happily, nodding in what she assumed was a very sage manner, as of course a monkey may nod in no other way.

It was sometimes difficult to be a monkey. Being the epitome of all things amazing could, after all, demand a lot of work she reasoned to herself. Luckily monkeys were also known for their industrious nature, so she was fairly sure everything would be fine.

The Freehold gathering had been very busy and she was just winding down, while there had been a few troubles she was quite pleased with how she had kept everything running smoothly. Of course other people had helped a lot, which was very, very nice of them. There'd been a mild stabbing and a tiny case of fish homicide, luckily of an actual fish and not a more person-y fish, but when she thought about it she couldn't figure out how anyone expected a fish not to end up eaten. In a Freehold gathering filled with people who'd spent time as critters it was really only to be expected, next they'd start yelling at Fairest for posing.

Wandering off from the talk she was having she pondered the whole situation more, it seemed to her that a lot of people were quite upset at the Freehold gathers. Which was perfectly reasonable, anger was a Good Thing after all, but they kept just lashing about with it instead of seeing it as the enthusiasm it really was. Proper anger was a what led to many great and amazing things after all; it fed inspiration and fuelled revolution, it was also a great incentive to sorting out annoying problems. Sadly it was also very often what made annoying problems. This was a Quandary she soon realised and one that would require great and sage-like contemplation, she nodded to herself as she made this conclusion. She wondered if Spring had a similar problem and soon realised that they most certainly do.

Spring fascinated her, but then most Courts did, Spring though was an interesting one. She'd not been a part of a Freehold during Spring before and was very much looking forward to it, it was billed as all this hope and joy after a Winter of trouble and sorrow and she figured what could be bad about that? It certainly sounded very good. But then Spring had many strange and concerning rumours attached to it as a whole, thought Alex. After all they were meant to be able to manipulate desires just like Summer could make people angry, this seemed far worse than what Summer did though. It was one thing to make a person furious and quite another to twist their desires. She furrowed her brow and thought about this, it was similar to that fellow who'd been accused of using Vainglory to make people think something that wasn't true, and that was certainly a Bad Thing. Wandering over to the koi pond while no one was really there she pondered this further, it was quite a concern.

If Spring could do that it might be bad, and she'd not heard of any form of governmental system within the Court to control misuses of such a power; and the more she thought about it the less she could see it having a good use really. Spring was supposed to be a rather pleasant Court from all accounts though, a bit rabbit-y (no offence intended towards Good and Noble rabbit Beasts of course) but pleasant. This could be a misconception she reasoned, but she wasn't sure and it confused her a bit too much to think about. Saffron and Rosalba are perfectly nice and good though, so obviously they cannot belong to a Court that is iffy. This realisation made her quite pleased with herself, it was good to find such obvious wisdom after all.

Looking about the koi pond she noticed the distinct lack of proper trees, the hot house had lacked proper trees too despite smelling so very promising. Again she found herself peering about for good exits from the place and nice high up places to hid should the need arise, she'd already scouted the room a couple of times but a wise monkey knows to always recheck these things. She shook her head as she thought back over all the people she knew who *didn't* think to check these very important things, what person in their right mind doesn't check a building for things like that? Buildings are, after all, just rather large boxes. And boxes can be closed up quite easily if one isn't prepared to find openings and good hiding spots in case those openings are closed too.

It was like how some people actually went around telling others off for eating, she thought back to the fish incident and when the mean shiny glass fellow had thrown fruit. She checked her bag quickly and was relieved that there was still one nice looking piece of goblin fruit sitting next to a more mundane pear, for a moment she'd worried she might have lost them somewhere, that had happened once and it had been very upsetting. People forgot how important such concerns were, in this day and age and world yes food was just down at the store; but what if it ran out? She shook her head, that wouldn't happen, but it was perfectly possible that they could somehow find themselves swept off into the hedge or some place on a massive adventure and then what would they do for food? What indeed she thought, patting her small supply happily and thinking back over all the best places to find food in the hedge and exactly how her pantry was going. A Beast thinks about these things, we are a prepared Seeming, like the Scouts.

Thinking over other possible Scout-like qualities that changelings could benefit from she wandered out into the main room again, checking for the highest bits of the room and being disappointed for perhaps the seventh time that night to discover the room still lacked any good vantage points. She thought perhaps if she left and came back in one more time the room may have sorted this problem out but it seemed unlikely. Peering around the room she stopped for a moment as she realised she couldn't remember who it was she'd been talking to before Important Matters had needed pondering but she was quite sure she'd wandered off mid-conversation. She frowned in mild concern but soon shrugged and carried on, monkeys were after all well known for being highly philosophical people and things had needed her thoughtful attention.
