The zoo. Why did I say the zoo?
I stared at the snow leopard as children screamed past. High pitched wails from spoiled brats assaulted my ears. Why did I say the zoo?
We moved on. I thought about reaching out to hold his hand, but really, that would be a bit much. Last night it was acceptable to cuddle. Today my life continued.
After the zoo, I thought as I squinted into the sun, I would go home. I would take a shower in my bathroom. I would have a takeaway in my kitchen.
I'd be alone with my work. I'd bask in the security of the distance from...well, from everyone.
The zoo was just too much. I wanted to get back to my own cave. My own cage. My own comfort.
