This is a true story:

There once was a shining Prince of purest Blood who had wandered far from home and crossed into four realms. Now this Prince has forsaken his kingdom and was hated by his people for his betrayal. But this tale is not of his wanders or of his betrayal. Those tales are for another time.

This tale starts, as many do, with an Ultimatum.

It came to pass that in the neighbouring kingdom to the one the prince dwelt in a vile act was performed against a noble and their great lords passed word through to their neighbours that such a vile act had be perpetrated by the Commoners of the neighbouring kingdom and unless the criminal was given over to them there would be war.

Now the Silver Prince had no desire to see war as such conflict would leave both Kingdoms damaged, his friends on one side and his family on the other. So the Shining Prince spoke with his people, though they hated him, and asked if he could speak with his Cousin who had been assaulted, for the Silver Prince had learnt many skills in his travels and the way of truth was one of them.
Now the Highborn of his people conferred and spoke to the Prince inviting him into their castle to speak with his cousin. The Shining Prince spoke that as he was hated surely a place outside of their Kingdom or the commoners Kingdom would be more suited.

But his people refused, such was the injury to one of their own they protested they could not risk such a thing. The Silver Prince then knew he would have to walk in to the heart of his people’s kingdom to speak with his cousin but such was the need he would not refuse.

The Shining Prince then asked if he were to walk into the Keep of his people to learn the truth would his people leave him unscathed? For his betrayal was great and weighed upon him. The Highborn smiled and said that none of his people would raise their hands against him.

But the Silver Prince was Wise and knew his peoples Gods were powerful and hated him. So he asked if the Highborn would keep their Gods from harming him? And The Highborn nobles frowned and reluctantly said they would.

So it came to pass that the Shining Prince walked into the Castle of his family, though he feared and they hated, to speak with the injured Cousin. Where by using the Way of truth he found that both kingdoms had been played false, and thus was war averted for awhile.

Yet the tales does not end there. For their arrogance the Silver Prince did chastise the Highborn who had made demands of the commoners and denied their right to issue such orders to people who were not their own. For such orders were destined for War. For though he stood in the house of his betrayal he knew his duty.

Thus the Shining Prince walked away from his betrayed people once more having shown them their hubris.

There this tale ends.

Sorry for the delay!

The December challenge, as suggested by several lovely members of the community, will be 'darkness and light'. Write many stories!

And I am also looking for suggestions for the January challenge right now.
