Beginnings - Violet

It was dark, the moon a mere sliver casting its eerie glow through the rain heavy clouds. She looked up and brushed the dark frizz from her eyes, a grunt of exasperation dying in her throat.

Where was that damn goat?  Next time it chewed through the rope it was going in the pot - maybe.

Turning to start up the hill she saw a figure cresting the rise. His face turned to her, the moonlight giving his skin an unearthly glow. He was the most beautiful thing she had ever seen. She took a half step back lowering her gaze. Her hair fell in waves around her face partially obscuring her eyes.  The deep green orbs remained fixed on the form moving towards her.  She heard the tinkle of a bell.

“You lose something?”

Her head tilted questioningly to one side. Looking past the man to the pathetic creature trailing behind him, frayed ends of the rope still dangling from its next.

“Yes. Daisy.”

She held her hand out for the rope. A wry smile played across his lips as his fingers brushed against her hand.

“No thank you?”

Her eyes narrowed as the air around her fairly chilled. He felt his skin prickle as she glared at him.  “It’s my goat. I’d a found it anyways.” She looked up at the sky. “Besides, its gonna rain real soon an I need to get this beast back.”

His smile grew wider as he moved closer in the blink of an eye, his nose buried in the crook of her neck.

“You smell of flowers. Violet.”
