She looked at Death, he stood in front of her, the world around her, her creation, was fading to black and white as she bargained with him. He held her life in his hand, and she had nothing to offer, as the came to something he wanted she felt it, the pain of Tor hitting her chest to keep her alive. She sat upright the colours bright and vibrant in a world she had wanted to come back to. Tor looked relieved she wondered on what he and Liam had been discussing and she smiled taking in the air she needed, the healing fruit having no effect on the fact she hurt, Tor looked a little confused, “It may need to heal naturally, make sure you take care of yourself for the next week or so.”

She explained the deal to Adrianne who gave her useful tips on how to go about it, and hugged her anyway. This dying thing was becoming a habit which one day she wouldn’t come back from. Rex stood in silence for a moment as she talked and then just said simply, “I am glad you came back”. Liam had been the same, grateful she was alive still, and Arthur had yelled a little and then hugged her in a way that she had believed that he was never going to let her go again. Mac had been angry, angry at the deal she had made, and annoyed, she hadn’t been pleased that she had come back, obviously Mac would have rather she had died. Astraea started to avoid her. The 2 people she had come back for mostly would rather she had died than make the deal, but it was done now.

Rex was injecting something, she understood, the pain was too much and she needed something, she was tempted to ask her to inject her too, she wanted to look as peaceful as he did. He patted the sofa next to him and brushed the needle away. She sat and curled up and let the grief pour over her. He stroked her hair and told her how beautiful she looked as she sat there, covered in blood wearing his jacket and sobbing, she wanted to see the world in his eyes. She let her grief swallow her, the stroking of her hair the only realisation of the world around her. Liam’s voice called to her through her grief “I can take it away, if you want” She nodded and for a few minutes she felt sad, but it no longer overwhelmed her. Cormac said he was sorry and that he was dealing with things, Sokol said he was sorry and anything she needed, she needed to sleep, she needed to feel safe, she asked that of Arthur and the host of the ball offered her a room, she accepted and Liam took her to bed. For all her grief and all her pain, suddenly people were making her feel like she belonged and as Liam held her, blood soaked and sobbing she drifted off to sleep.
